The Neil Sachse Centre (NSC) is pleased to confirm that registrations for Project Discovery Classic #6 are open. Get ready to stretch those legs, meet some AMAZING people, tour the McLaren Vale, taste great wines and raise vital funds on the Project Discovery 6 three-day event.
The PD6 ride will be undertaken in honour of Neil Sachse and his tireless work for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) research. Neil’s vision remains the focal point of the Neil Sachse Centre: to find a cure for Spinal Cord Injuries and change the future for people living with these disabling conditions.
Project Discovery Classic #6 will take riders on a fun and challenging ride from Adelaide to the McLaren Vale and back. Led by the team at Mondo Cycling Tours, this is the sixth annual ride and the Neil Sachse Centre’s largest annual public fundraiser. More information on Project Discovery Classic 6
Register online today and join us for this three day event. Registration includes the hosted ride, meals and accommodation as well as unique McLaren Vale experiences. This year the Centre has created a registration for partners to come along and support the riders along their journey, and joining them at the end of the day for the evening entertainment and celebrations.
There are also options to register for a start of the art e-Bike experience for one day or more thanks to our partners Willride. What a great way to try out an electric bike, while contributing to medical research.
When does PD6 take place?
PD6 will take place from Thursday, 18 November to Saturday 20 November 2021
Project Discovery Classic 6 (PD6) will take riders on a fun and challenging ride from Adelaide to the McLaren Vale and back, led by the team at Mondo Cycling Tours. This ride is undertaken in honour of Neil and his tireless work for Spinal Cord Injury research. Neil’s vision remains the focal point of the Neil Sachse Centre: to find a cure for Spinal Cord Injuries and change the future for people living with these disabling conditions.
Why sign up to PD6?
PD6 raises funds to support Spinal Cord Injury research
This ride was named for the Neil Sachse Centre’s Project Discovery program. Project Discovery was developed by NSC researchers using positron emission tomography (PET) to image the spinal cord in new and innovative ways, providing more accurate diagnosis and treatment. The NSC is undertaking its first Project Discovery Clinical Trial and funds raised by PD6 riders and sponsors will support this vital work.
Registration: $825/cyclist for three day event
Participants can register online for the three day event, with the registration fee including the hosted ride, meals, accommodation and the PD6 Jersey and Vest, as well as a host of amazing experiences including wine tastings and dinners.
Each rider’s fundraising target = $3,000
PD6 Supporters: Join the 3 day social program
Partners and family can also register to support the riders along their journey, and join them at the end of the day for the evening’s entertainment and celebrations. There is also an option for supporters to join for one or two nights.
The Neil Sachse Centre is asking each PD6 Rider to aim to raise $3,000 which will enable us to provide five PET scans for our clinical trial. PET is an imaging technique that produces 3D images by detecting gamma rays emitted by radiopharmaceuticals. The SAHMRI cyclotron gives the NSC the ability to source specific radiopharmaceuticals to undertake these scans, and our trial participants will be scanned onsite at SAHMRI.
How can cyclists reach their fundraising goal?
We use MyCause for our PD6 registration. When you register online for PD6, MyCause will automatically set up a fundraising page for you so your friends, family and colleagues can donate directly and receive a tax-deductible receipt. Many of our riders talk to their workplace about corporate support and matched giving. You can also hold events and fundraising activities to top up your total (make sure you check COVID regs and state fundraising guidelines – we can help with this!).
We value our partners, and work closely with them to tailor the package which best suits their business. So get in touch, there are bespoke partnership options beyond those in the attached brochure. firstname.lastname@example.org or 08 8128 4717.
