On 16th November Neil Sachse was endorsed for the Spirit of South Australia award at a celebration dinner at Adelaide Oval. The awards are for those who have achieved high levels in their individual sports. Some of those people who were inducted into the Hall of Fame included John Letts – Horse Racing, John Cahill – Football, and Rohan Dennis – Cycling. The awards were presented by the Governor His Excellency The Honourable Hieu Van Lee AC and the Honourable Corey Wingard MP. Neil joined other South Australian icons such as Rob Gerard and Marjorie Jackson-Nelson receiving the Spirit of South Australia Awards.

This is yet another recognition of Neil’s life time commitment to helping others and improving the outcomes for people suffering spinal cord injury.

As Neil’s on field football accident was televised nationally this has changed the way sports people are treated on the field at the time of injury. Professional services such as St Johns staff and medicos at sporting events are now trained in the correct way to deal with on field sporting injuries.
